I’m trying to get into freelance work, but I don’t have a Mac or any of the programs needed to do so. My former university won’t allow me to use their facilities to do my projects, so what do you suggest I’d do until I can scrounge up enough money to get what I need? Kinko’s charges you a ridiculous rate by the minute to use their computers. There’s no way in hell I’m going there. What other resources are available to me?

2I suggest get this XaraXtreme: http://www.xara.com/uk/products/xtreme/
(free 1 month trial, then you can try the pro version 1 month so total 2 months to try, guess you like it)
You need no Mac to be a graphic designer.

3Well there are always ways to “acquire” software. THE method I am talking about does not include using the internet to PIRATE any thing of the sort. If you did something like that you would trouble keeping the feds at BAY.
Oh yeah, there’s a free photoshop clone at sumopaint.com
Check that out.
